I started my career as a writer only six months ago after graduating with my English degree from Canadian University College in Alberta, Canada. I’ve gone through the struggles that many of today’s experts can’t relate to, since they started writing when the industry looked much different.

I’ve found out how difficult it can be to win those first few bids, I’ve felt the stress of working through a large project that I underbid on by a significant margin, and I’ve realized what all-nighters are like when you’re pushing a deadline…it’s all part of the process.

As a freelance writer, you’re put in a position where you need to figure things out for yourself. You learn how to market your services, you learn how to service your existing client base, and you learn how to make the client acquisition process run smoother each time you go through it.

It’s a tricky business that takes a lot of focus and dedication, but it is also one that is exciting, dynamic, and rewarding.
